Uber Eats is launching robotic deliveries with Coco in L.A. Coco will deliver from hundreds of local merchants starting this week, with plans to expand. The partnership aligns with Uber's aim for sustainable delivery methods and broader U.S. expansion.
Uber has partnered with Coco to expand robotic deliveries in Los Angeles. Starting this week, Coco's robots will deliver food for Uber Eats from hundreds of merchants. This marks a key step in Uber's strategy to use autonomous delivery methods. “As we continue to popularize robot delivery in Los Angeles, our partnership with Coco drives us another step towards a more sustainable and autonomous future for delivery,” said Noah Zych, global head of autonomous mobility at Uber.
Coco’s robots are already a familiar sight in several L.A. neighborhoods, including Santa Monica, Venice, and Hollywood. With over 1,000 robots, Coco has completed more than 300,000 zero-emissions deliveries since 2020. The partnership with Uber Eats will significantly increase Coco's presence, enabling them to serve even more areas and merchants in Los Angeles.
The partnership between Uber and Coco is just beginning. Uber Eats plans to expand robotic deliveries beyond Los Angeles to other U.S. cities in the coming months. Coco is also working on launching thousands of new robots, targeting further expansion in both the U.S. and Europe. This will help Uber to extend its robotic delivery services to new markets.
Uber has been actively exploring robotic delivery options through multiple partnerships. Last year, it expanded its collaboration with Serve Robotics to deploy up to 2,000 robots across the U.S. Uber Eats also works with Cartken in Miami and Virginia. These moves reflect Uber's broader strategy to innovate and lead in autonomous delivery solutions, aiming to make food delivery more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Will robotic deliveries become the norm in major U.S. cities?
