DHL's subsidiary, DeinFach, has launched white parcel stations in cities like Cologne and Berlin, allowing multiple carriers to deliver and collect packages, enhancing convenience for consumers.
DHL's subsidiary, DeinFach, has introduced white, provider-neutral parcel stations in several German cities, including Cologne, Bonn, and Berlin. These stations allow consumers to send and receive packages from multiple carriers, such as DHL and UPS, at a single location. This initiative aims to simplify parcel logistics and enhance user convenience.
DeinFach plans to install at least 1,000 of these white parcel stations by the end of 2025. Similarly, Myflexbox, another operator, aims to establish over 1,000 locations by the end of 2025, with a goal of reaching 5,000 by 2030. These expansions reflect a growing trend towards automated, provider-neutral parcel solutions in Germany.
Both DeinFach and Myflexbox provide the infrastructure for these parcel stations but do not handle the parcel deliveries themselves. Plans are underway to enable retailers to use these stations for temporary storage, allowing customers to pick up orders at their convenience, even outside regular business hours.
In July 2024, Germany's Postal Service Act mandated the availability of provider-neutral automated stations for parcel reception, ensuring no additional costs for consumers. This legislation supports the deployment of such parcel stations, promoting competition and consumer convenience in the parcel delivery market.
