DPD Germany and hey circle introduce reusable shipping packaging to cut waste. The eco-friendly boxes last 50 cycles, reducing costs and environmental impact.
DPD Germany ships over 350M parcels annually. To reduce waste, it now partners with Munich-based hey circle. Their reusable packaging lasts up to 50 cycles, saving costs and cutting environmental impact. The move aligns with growing sustainability trends.
Businesses purchase hey circle’s reusable boxes. Goods are packed, sealed, and shipped with a return label. Customers return them via DPD couriers or drop-off points. Packaging is then inspected and reused. This process reduces waste and simplifies shipping.
Last year, DPD and hey circle tested the concept with Trigema. 200 XL boxes were reused between production sites and stores. Results showed cost savings and waste reduction. DPD’s CEO, Dr. Karsten Schwarz, calls this “a big step toward sustainable logistics.”
Retailers with high return rates benefit the most. Less disposable packaging means fewer emissions. Hey circle’s solution integrates seamlessly into logistics. The partnership signals a shift in e-commerce, pushing toward a greener future.
