Showroomprivé has launched its marketplace in Belgium. After seeing 85% growth in France in 2023, the company is testing international expansion. Spain and Portugal are next in line, with launches expected by the end of 2024.
Showroomprivé, the French online membership platform, has just launched its marketplace in Belgium. The move marks the company’s first international expansion of its marketplace, following its domestic success. Unlike its usual flash sales, this marketplace offers fixed deals from partner brands. In Belgium, Showroomprivé has already partnered with 90 sales partners. Meanwhile, in France, the marketplace includes 220 partners.
In 2023, Showroomprivé’s marketplace saw massive success in France, growing by 85%. This success is the foundation for the company’s international ambitions. Managing director Grégoire Scherer explained the decision to move into Belgium as a "test market" to experiment with expanding to other regions. “We believe our marketplace is well-established in France, so it’s time to push beyond,” Scherer said.
Belgium is just the start of Showroomprivé’s expansion. The company has its sights set on Spain and Portugal, with plans to launch the marketplace there before the end of 2024. These moves align with Showroomprivé’s strategy to grow its presence in Europe. The company hopes that these countries will follow Belgium’s pattern of strong marketplace adoption, strengthening its foothold outside France.
While the growth in France is impressive, Showroomprivé faces challenges in expanding internationally. The Belgian market is seen as a testing ground for this strategy. Scherer emphasized that adapting to local preferences and maintaining a strong brand presence are crucial for success. “We need to learn quickly and fine-tune our offerings to match each country’s needs,” he added.
