MealMe raised $8M in Series A funding, bringing its total to $16M. Founded as a consumer app in 2019, MealMe has transitioned into a B2B API provider, powering food and retail ordering within apps. The API connects over 1M stores and restaurants across the U.S. and Canada. The company plans to expand into broader e-commerce and AI. Investors include Mercury Fund, Gaingels, and Palm Drive Capital.
MealMe, originally a consumer app for finding food deals, has completed its $8M Series A funding round, increasing its total capital to $16M. The round, led by Mercury Fund, saw support from Gaingels and Palm Drive Capital. Founded in 2019, MealMe has pivoted its business model from consumer-focused to B2B. With this new capital, it aims to strengthen its developer support for enterprise clients and expand its market reach.
MealMe transitioned from a food delivery app to a B2B API, powering food and retail ordering on consumer platforms. The API offers real-time inventory and price data, enabling orders from nearby stores. “We realized we could pivot to B2B and be the infrastructure layer for ordering,” said co-founder Matthew Bouchner. The API now connects over 1 billion products across 1.2M stores in the U.S. and Canada, serving 100+ clients, like Fantuan, Favor Delivery, and Tripadvisor.
Bouchner highlighted the industry’s shift toward embedded commerce, which adds e-commerce within platforms. “Everything is going to be embedded,” he shared, predicting consumer-facing platforms will need seamless ordering integration. MealMe aims to lead this trend by connecting platforms to local stores, creating an “infrastructure layer” for embedded transactions across multiple devices like TVs and cars.
With its Series A funds, MealMe plans to grow its team and target broader markets, beyond food ordering. The firm is eyeing expansions into general e-commerce and AI-enhanced services. To accomplish this, the company will invest in marketing and improve developer support. Bouchner emphasized MealMe’s vision of staying “at the forefront of everything embedded” in years to come, powering on-demand transactions across devices.
