Flash, founded by ex-Flipkart exec, launches in the U.S., allowing users to track purchases, manage spending, and earn rewards. With over $291.6B spent online in Q2, the U.S. is a lucrative market. Flash is free but offers a $49/year premium plan with features like AI spam protection and a dedicated shopping inbox. Founded in 2022, Flash has over 1M users in India. Expansion will continue with a global version planned for 2025, backed by upcoming funding.
Flash, an app founded by former Flipkart senior VP Ranjith Boyanapalli, has launched in the U.S. to simplify online shopping management. With U.S. online sales totaling $291.6B in Q2 2024, the market is ideal for Flash’s services. The app aggregates purchases, tracks orders, and offers a spending breakdown across categories like travel, groceries, and entertainment, making it easy for users to understand their shopping habits and set budgets.
Flash not only organizes purchases but also rewards users. For each order, free users earn points, which accumulate toward gift cards worth $5-$100. Through brands like Amazon, Target, and Instacart, Flash encourages more spending by turning orders into reward points. The paid “Flash Plus” plan offers 5x more points, along with extra features, for $49/year.
Flash Plus subscribers get a dedicated shopping inbox (@flash.co), reducing email clutter and separating personal messages from promotional emails. Boyanapalli notes the feature addresses the issue of promotional overload, something he experienced firsthand when receiving over 10,000 marketing emails in one year. The inbox, along with AI-powered spam protection, is exclusive to the U.S. app.
Flash’s expansion into the U.S. is part of a larger global growth strategy. The company plans to launch a worldwide version by mid-2025 and is seeking additional funding to support its U.S. growth, expected in early 2025. Flash is banking on American shopping habits and the holiday season to boost adoption, with future market-specific features in the works.
