eBay shoppers in Germany can now pay for monthly purchases through a single invoice due mid-month. Partnering with Riverty, eBay’s new option adds flexibility and convenience, consolidating all purchases into one statement. Buyers receive the invoice on the first day of each month, with a 14-day period to pay, ensuring seamless shopping. The option will fully launch in early 2025.
eBay has introduced a new payment feature for its German customers: the "monthly invoice." This option allows eBay shoppers to receive a single invoice covering all their purchases from the past month. Issued on the first day of each month, customers then have 14 days to pay. The goal is to provide a simple and consolidated payment solution, eliminating the need for multiple transactions. Dr. Saskia Meier-Andrae, eBay Germany's Managing Director, states that this feature aims to make shopping on eBay more convenient by allowing payments to be made in one installment.
Payments for the monthly invoice are processed through Riverty, a trusted German payment provider and part of the Bertelsmann Group. Known for handling over 80M transactions each month, Riverty is a secure choice with scalable technology and financial stability. Andreas Barth, Riverty’s CEO, highlights this partnership as aligned with Riverty's “merchant-first” strategy, aiming to enhance buyer choice and flexibility while supporting eBay’s local needs. Riverty has built a reputation for providing seamless, secure, and fee-free payment processing for on-time payments.
This new offering underscores eBay’s focus on providing a globally trusted and user-centered payment experience. Avritti Khandurie Mittal, eBay’s VP of Global Payments, explains that eBay is focused on making transactions as relevant and reliable as possible for their international customer base. The company’s expanding payment options—ranging from major credit cards to Buy Now, Pay Later—showcase a commitment to meet diverse market needs. Germany’s monthly invoice option aligns with eBay's broader vision to support local preferences and simplify shopping worldwide.
Currently available to select customers, the monthly invoice option will expand to all eBay shoppers in Germany by early 2025. The timing is ideal, as the feature gives users added flexibility ahead of the holiday season, traditionally a peak shopping period. Buyers can take advantage of this new convenience, which is expected to boost satisfaction and increase eBay’s customer loyalty. The rollout follows a rising trend in Germany, where shoppers prefer simple, deferred payment solutions, further strengthening eBay’s market position.
