Royal Mail will roll out 250 exclusive parcel lockers by early 2025, starting in London. These lockers will enhance convenience for online shoppers, sellers, and returns, offering 24/7 access in high-traffic areas.
Royal Mail is stepping into a new era with its exclusive parcel lockers. The first 250 lockers will launch by early 2025, starting at Mount Pleasant in London. These lockers, accessible 24/7, will be located in delivery offices and third-party retailer spaces, catering to the growing needs of online shoppers and secondhand marketplace sellers.
With demand for parcel points on the rise, Royal Mail has already partnered with over 1,000 shared lockers and 5,000 Collect+ convenience stores. The introduction of its own lockers marks a significant step forward, giving Royal Mail control over locker locations and enabling seamless parcel services, including returns and label printing.
Research shows strong demand for more click-and-collect options, particularly among younger urban millennials, 82% of whom support such services. Royal Mail's strategy aligns with these insights, ensuring services are tailored for urban living and modern shopping behaviors.
Jack Clarkson, Group Strategy and Transformation Director, emphasized that the locker rollout supports Royal Mail's modernization goals. He called the move “good news for shoppers, small businesses, and the UK public,” ensuring convenience, efficiency, and scalability in parcel handling as online shopping continues to thrive.
