Instacart has upgraded its FoodStorm order management system with new features, boosting visibility and flexibility for retailers and customers. With holiday sales approaching, these updates aim to streamline ordering, improve inventory management, and maximize sales.
Instacart has rolled out new updates to its FoodStorm order management system just in time for the holiday season. These enhancements allow store associates to mark individual items as complete, access specific customer order notes, and search orders more efficiently. The goal is to give store staff better visibility into each order, ensuring that customers receive exactly what they ordered. These improvements will help reduce errors and increase customer satisfaction during the busy holiday shopping period.
Another significant update is the new flexibility in payment and order adjustments. Retailers can now remove an original credit card payment method without needing to cancel the order, which is especially useful if the customer opts for payment upon pickup. Additionally, both customers and retailers can add or delete items on the day of pickup without canceling the entire order. This feature enables retailers to promote upselling opportunities while offering a more seamless shopping experience.
FoodStorm now offers retailers the ability to show customers which nearby stores have their desired items in stock. Customers can also change their preferred store location based on item availability. This functionality will help streamline order fulfillment, as retailers can optimize inventory management and ensure that customers are directed to the right store for their specific needs.
FoodStorm, which Instacart acquired in October 2021, has steadily expanded its capabilities. It became part of Instacart’s Connected Stores in September 2022, allowing for a more unified shopping experience. The system supports omnichannel fulfillment, including made-to-order items, and integrates with a wide range of third-party systems like POS solutions. The latest updates continue to position FoodStorm as a robust tool for retailers to enhance their prepared food operations and maximize sales.
