Bol.com introduces Sponsored Products, better partner tools, and a review policy change. The updates include enhanced ad placement, new platform features for sellers, and compliance with the Digital Services Act. All sellers will access these changes by the end of August.
Bol.com, the Dutch online marketplace, has launched new advertising options for its sellers. These options, called Sponsored Products, allow sellers to showcase their brand and products directly in search results. About 50% of partner sellers are participating in the pilot program. The new feature is similar to Amazon's Sponsored Brands and aims to make ad management easier. The new environment will be available to all partner sellers by the end of August. "We want to help our sellers reach customers more effectively," Bol.com stated.
The partner platform now includes a tool to track product positions. Previously, sellers used external tools for this purpose. This new feature makes it easier to monitor SEO efforts directly on Bol.com. Additionally, the platform's interface has been updated to be more user-friendly. Sellers can now set up and optimize their ad campaigns more efficiently, receiving extensive reporting through a new API.
Bol.com has changed its review policy to comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA) across Europe. As of July 1st, sponsored reviews are no longer allowed. This means customers can't receive compensation for posting reviews. The policy aims to ensure genuine feedback on products. Bol.com stated, "We want our reviews to be trustworthy and unbiased." This change is expected to improve the reliability of customer reviews on the platform.
These updates follow the earlier introduction of a new payout model for partner sellers, allowing them to choose between monthly or bi-monthly payments. The new Sponsored Products environment will be fully accessible by the end of August. This phased rollout ensures that sellers have time to adapt to the new tools and policies. Bol.com continues to evolve its platform to meet the needs of sellers and comply with regulatory requirements.
