Amazon Autos, launched in 48 U.S. cities, partners with Hyundai to offer online car buying. Customers can browse, finance, and schedule pickups. The service expands in 2025, adding dealerships and brands, offering seamless transparency.
Amazon has partnered with Hyundai Motor Co. to launch a unique car shopping experience in 48 U.S. cities. Starting Dec. 10, customers can purchase Hyundai models online via Amazon Autos. Buyers can select trim, colors, and financing, and schedule a pickup at local dealerships. “We’re making car shopping more transparent and customer-friendly,” said Fan Jin, head of Amazon Autos. This innovative platform includes features like extended warranties, trade-in options, and independent third-party trade-in evaluations.
The platform is live in major cities, including New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, connecting Hyundai dealerships with millions of Amazon customers. Steven Suh of South Bay Hyundai called this partnership a “game-changer.” By handling the initial sales process online and maintaining dealership pickups, Amazon sidesteps franchise laws that restrict direct vehicle sales in states like Texas. Hyundai has been an Amazon partner since 2018, previously offering a digital showroom for configuration and price estimates.
Amazon Autos plans to expand in 2025 with more dealerships and automaker brands, boosting convenience and reach. The platform promises transparent pricing, eliminating haggling, and streamlining trade-ins. Customers drop off old vehicles during new car pickups. Hyundai also announced integrating Amazon Alexa into its vehicles by 2025, marking another milestone in their collaboration. With feedback from customers and dealers, Amazon plans continuous improvements to the buying experience.
For dealers, Amazon Autos provides a robust digital sales channel, complementing their websites. Customers benefit from simplified car shopping with features like financing and scheduling without leaving their homes. “This partnership redesigns how car buyers connect with dealers,” said Fan Jin. The platform reflects Amazon’s ambition to innovate industries, creating a win-win for automakers, dealers, and consumers.
