In a fascinating overview of shopping preferences, clothing categories – including underwear, sleepwear, and shoes – emerged as the top choice across these markets, followed by beauty and health. Highlighting the frequency of online shopping, an impressive 61% of consumers reported purchasing five or more items in the three months leading to November 2023.
Germany stands out in the digital fashion landscape, with a remarkable 79% of consumers buying apparel online in the past quarter. This indicates a significant opportunity in the online clothing retail sector in Germany.
Spanish shoppers exhibit a strong inclination towards sports and entertainment purchases, with 58% indulging in these online. They also demonstrate a keen interest in product research, dedicating 9-10 hours each week to online browsing.
In France, the focus is on beauty and health products. A significant 53% of French consumers have recently spent over €288 in these categories, underscoring their preference in this sector.
The U.K. showcases a distinct shopping pattern, with over a quarter of consumers recently purchasing items related to weddings and events online, marking a unique trend in their shopping behavior.
It's no surprise that marketplaces have become the preferred shopping destinations. Half of the consumers prefer these platforms, indicating a dominant trend in online retail.
