Uber launched "Local Pickup" in Poland, expanding to Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and Trójmiasto. Users can now task drivers with collecting store orders, parcels, or gifts. This service, priced slightly above "Uber Package," rivals Glovo's offering.
Uber has introduced a service called "Local Pickup," allowing users to send drivers to collect pre-paid goods directly from stores, parcel lockers, or even pharmacies. Available in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and Trójmiasto, this feature expands Uber’s ecosystem, making it a competitor to Glovo's similar service. The feature works for items weighing up to 15 kg and valued up to $120. It’s a move designed to capitalize on Poland's busy holiday shopping season.
Accessing the feature is seamless. Open the Uber app, navigate to “Services,” select “Local Pickup,” and enter the collection and delivery details. Users can track the driver’s progress and authorize package pickup with a PIN code. This ensures security and reliability, enhancing user trust in the service. Uber also emphasizes its utility for last-minute holiday shopping or forgotten items.
The pricing is competitive, sitting slightly above "Uber Package" but still affordable. For many, the convenience justifies the cost, especially during peak shopping seasons. Industry insiders suggest Uber's timing is strategic, aiming to gain a foothold in a market where Glovo has been a leader. This could lead to intensified competition in Poland’s delivery market.
Uber’s move into parcel and goods delivery signals a broader strategy to diversify its services. Poland, with its thriving e-commerce sector and busy urban hubs, is an ideal testing ground. If successful, the service might roll out to other countries. Analysts believe this could pressure competitors to innovate and offer similar services, driving growth and convenience in the delivery sector.
