🍔 Swiggy launches 10-minute meal service
Swiggy, one of India's largest food delivery platforms, has introduced a new 10-minute meal delivery service called Bolt. Bolt promises to deliver fast meals like coffee, burgers, and biryani in key areas of Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune. The service focuses on items that can be quickly prepared and delivered within a 2-kilometer radius of customers.
📈 Growing quick-commerce market
The quick-commerce market in India is booming, growing by over 100% in the last year. Swiggy competes with platforms like Zomato’s Blinkit, Zepto, and BigBasket, which are changing consumer expectations for faster delivery. Flipkart, India’s e-commerce giant, recently entered the race with its own quick-commerce service. This competition is reshaping the shopping experience for millions, pushing companies to focus on speed.
🤝 Partnerships with top brands
Swiggy has teamed up with more than 2,700 restaurants, including global chains like KFC, McDonald’s, and Starbucks. These partnerships allow Bolt to offer a wide range of quick-to-prepare items. Rohit Kapoor, head of food delivery at Swiggy, said the service aims to cut wait times for frequently ordered items, improving customer satisfaction. “We’re taking food delivery to the next level,” he added.
🚚 No added pressure on delivery workers
Swiggy clarified that delivery partners won’t face penalties or incentives based on Bolt orders. Delivery personnel aren’t told which orders are from Bolt, meaning there’s no pressure to meet the 10-minute window. This ensures that worker conditions are not compromised, maintaining a fair system for both regular and Bolt orders.
