Powered by Hurr, John Lewis offers a curated selection of brands with prices starting from £40 for a four-day rental. Sizes range from 34 to 46. Customers can rent items for 4, 8, 16, or 30 days, with next-day delivery available. After use, items are returned with pre-paid postage and dry cleaned by Hurr, ready for the next rental.
The global menswear rental market is projected to be worth £2.36B by 2027, according to The Global Online Rental Report. John Lewis has seen a significant rise in searches for “mens rental” on their website over the past 18 months. This new service addresses growing customer demand, providing a convenient solution for last-minute events and special occasions.
The menswear rental range includes top brands such as Boss Tailoring, Charles Tyrwhitt, and the new brand Hay Life. John Lewis commercial director Kathleen Mitchell stated, “We’re unique on the high street to offer the widest range of multiple brands to rent, from everyday suits to premium styles.” This initiative reflects the company's commitment to offering versatile and high-quality options to its customers.
John Lewis initially launched its womenswear rental service in 2022. The service has since seen a 52% increase in members and a 40% rise in rentals year on year. The introduction of menswear rental is expected to follow a similar growth trajectory. “This is just the beginning of menswear rental and we’re really excited to see it grow,” added Kathleen Mitchell. John Lewis continues to innovate and adapt to changing consumer needs, staying ahead in the retail market.
