eBay UK launches Trade In, a new service for selling old tech. Partnering with Fonehouse, devices can be traded for cash or coupons. From Dec 9, 2024, to Jan 3, 2025, selected trades get an extra $50 bonus.
On Dec 11, 2024, eBay UK launched "Trade In," making it easier for users to exchange old tech for money. The program targets customers who find it tedious to sell devices themselves. Devices like phones, tablets, and consoles are eligible, with Fonehouse inspecting and refurbishing them for resale.
Users can choose between an instant eBay coupon or direct bank payment. Coupons are issued within 48 hours, while bank transfers take 5-7 days. To sweeten the deal, selected trade-ins receive an additional $50 bonus until Jan 3, 2025, encouraging more participation this holiday season.
Shipping is hassle-free and insured up to $150. Users have 14 days to send their devices after determining trade-in value online. Data security is guaranteed with ADISA-accredited solutions for data erasure, ensuring peace of mind during the process.
By refurbishing and reselling old tech, eBay contributes to reducing electronic waste. This program aligns with growing consumer interest in sustainability, making it a win-win for the planet and customers. eBay hopes this will boost sales for their marketplace sellers.
