Depop has eliminated its 10% selling fee for users in the United States starting today. This change allows sellers to keep more of their earnings. Previously, Depop made a similar move in the UK earlier in March. This update aims to benefit Depop’s growing community by providing them with better value and encouraging more people to join the secondhand fashion trend.
📈 Boosting Seller Earnings
The removal of the selling fee means sellers can earn more from their sales. On average, a seller in the US made over $450 in their first year on Depop. Globally, the Depop community has earned over $3.5B since the platform's inception. This change aims to further support sellers and contribute to the growing resale market.
🔄 Marketplace Fee Introduced
While selling fees are gone, Depop has introduced a marketplace fee for buyers, effective July 18, 2024. This fee will be up to 5% of the purchase price, plus a fixed amount up to $1. The fee will support investments in Depop Protection, customer support, and platform improvements. It aims to enhance the overall buying and selling experience on Depop.
👗 Enhancing the User Experience
Depop has been working on several improvements to boost user experience. Enhancements include a 42% increase in search efficiency, a 54% improvement in item matching, and a 40% improvement in support resolution time. The platform also launched new features like Send Offer and Boosted Listings, which increased development velocity by over 70%. These efforts aim to make Depop a more rewarding and inspiring marketplace for all users.
