Lieferando, Germany's leading food delivery app, is broadening its service offering. As of October 2024, customers in 18 cities can order medicines and other pharmacy products directly to their doorsteps. The expansion is part of a strategic partnership with GetCURE, an AI pharmacy platform. The collaboration allows Lieferando to deliver over 500 over-the-counter medicines, including nutritional supplements, baby foods, and cosmetics. This move aims to make pharmacy products more accessible to the company’s users, which now total around 12 million app visits monthly in Germany.
Lieferando's new pharmacy delivery service is available in major German cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt. The rollout also covers cities like Cologne, Stuttgart, and Leipzig. Smaller cities like Halle and Regensburg are also part of this new offering. This expansion builds on similar partnerships in other countries, such as with Boots in the UK, Luda in Spain, and CVS in the USA. These collaborations have helped Lieferando diversify beyond food delivery into a broader range of essential goods.
Lieferando's move into pharmacy delivery comes amid a decline in its traditional food delivery orders. Parent company Just Eat Takeaway.com reported 211.1M orders in Q3 2024, down from 214M in the same quarter last year. The shift to delivering pharmacy items and expanding partnerships, like the one with German supermarket REWE, shows Lieferando’s focus on maintaining market relevance. REWE's partnership, launched in September 2024, promises grocery delivery within 45 minutes in 40 cities.

Similarly, partnerships in other markets have diversified the company's services beyond food delivery.
