Instacart Health announced a new partnership with Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider, on Wednesday. This collaboration aims to expand access to nutritious foods and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. Northwell will use Instacart’s platform to support programs addressing social determinants of health like food access and transportation.
👩🍼 Focus on Maternal Health
The first program under this partnership targets improving access to nutritious food for expectant mothers in communities of color. These communities face long-standing disparities in maternal care. The program integrates Instacart Health tools into Northwell’s Maternal Outcomes and Morbidity Collaborative, offering Fresh Funds for online grocery stipends and access to Northwell’s Healthy Choices Storefront on Instacart.
💡 Expanding Health Initiatives
Instacart has been developing its food-as-medicine initiatives for years, launching digital solutions that connect health and hunger initiatives. Earlier this year, Instacart formed a public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support food-as-medicine programs, research, and policy priorities. This new collaboration with Northwell is part of Instacart's ongoing effort to improve health equity.
