Amazon has launched Prime Access, a new program offering discounted memberships to U.S. customers on government assistance. For $6.99 a month, over 50% off the regular price, qualifying customers can access all the benefits of a Prime membership. This includes fast, free delivery, streaming services, exclusive deals, and more. "We want our customers to know about all the accessible offerings available on Amazon, no matter their circumstances," said Amazon's spokesperson. This program is part of Amazon's effort to support customers facing rising costs on essential needs.
Prime Access isn't the only feature of Amazon Access. Customers can also use SNAP EBT to buy groceries from Amazon, Whole Foods Market, and Amazon Fresh with free shipping on eligible orders. Amazon Layaway lets customers pay over time without credit checks, interest, or fees. "We've expanded SNAP EBT to 99.7% of U.S. SNAP households," Amazon announced. These programs aim to provide flexible payment options and significant savings, making online shopping easier and more affordable for everyone.
Prime Access members enjoy numerous perks, including streaming movies and series, ad-free music, free games, and more. Last year, members saved an average of $1,600 from shipping savings, coupons, and discounts. Additional benefits include 20% off at Amazon Fresh stores, up to 80% savings on medications, and no annual fees on the Amazon Prime Secured Card. Unlimited photo storage and 5 GB of video storage with Amazon Photos are also included, making it easier to manage and share memories.
Since its inception, Prime Access has grown rapidly, expanding by over 300% from 2019 to 2021. By rebranding and promoting the program, Amazon aims to increase visibility and make these benefits accessible to more customers. Millions of households receiving benefits from 10 government assistance programs can join Prime Access and enjoy substantial savings. Customers can sign up for a 30-day free trial and easily register by providing valid ID or government assistance documentation.
