Vinted introduces a new feature allowing buyers to verify electronics like smartphones for just 20 PLN. Items, such as Apple products, can be sent for authentication in Lithuania. If it's a counterfeit, buyers get a refund.
Vinted, the popular online marketplace, has been allowing users to buy and sell electronics for a while now. In August 2024, a dedicated category for electronics was added. With an increase in fraudulent listings, Vinted needed a way to tackle counterfeit items. Many buyers have been concerned about the authenticity of products like smartphones and accessories, especially with high-end brands like Apple being commonly imitated.
To address these concerns, Vinted has extended its verification service to electronics. Previously available for clothing and accessories over 450 PLN, the feature now covers electronics. For just 20 PLN ($4.50), users can verify whether their purchased items—smartphones, headphones, and more—are genuine. This service is entirely optional, but it’s expected to help buyers feel more secure when purchasing high-value tech on the platform.
The verification process involves sending the purchased item to a Vinted verification center located in Lithuania. This process can take up to 2 business days. If the product is confirmed authentic, it is forwarded to the buyer. If it’s found to be a counterfeit, the buyer receives a refund and a detailed report explaining why the item failed verification.
With only a small fee of 20 PLN, the service offers a lot of value. The rise in counterfeit electronics, especially popular brands like Apple, has made verification a useful feature for consumers. Available for both Polish buyers and those ordering from Lithuania, this service provides peace of mind in a market filled with potential fraud. It’s a low-cost solution that could save buyers hundreds of dollars on potentially fake products.
