On Valentine’s Day, Swiggy Instamart saw 581 chocolates and 324 roses ordered per minute, doubling last year's sales by 10:53 AM.
Swiggy Instamart had a record-breaking Valentine’s Day. At peak, 581 chocolates were ordered per minute. That’s nearly 35,000 chocolates an hour! Co-founder Phani Kishan called it a "bull run" for love. Sales were twice last year’s numbers by 10:53 AM.
Initially, Swiggy tracked chocolate sales, but roses surged. Customers ordered 324 roses per minute—16 times more than a regular Friday. Phani Kishan said carts were "saying it with flowers," proving romance is alive and well in India.
One Delhi buyer spent $360 on just 174 chocolates in a single order. Swiggy Instamart’s orders were 5x higher than a usual Friday. The trend shows Indians are willing to splurge on Valentine’s Day, making it a goldmine for online retailers.
Swiggy has seen massive single-day sales before. On New Year’s Eve, Instamart recorded 853 orders per minute for chips. This Valentine’s rush proves quick-commerce is thriving, with Instamart leading the charge in impulse purchases.
