Just Eat Takeaway.com expands its in-car ordering app to Ireland, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Austria. Initially launched in the UK, the app is accessible via the Mercedes-Benz In-Car App Store. More car brands will soon have access. Just Eat has added new features, like Group Ordering, and tools like Menu AI, for a smoother customer and partner experience. By year-end, one app will serve all markets to streamline operations and cut costs.
Following the December launch of its in-car ordering system in the UK, Just Eat Takeaway.com is expanding across Europe. Customers in Ireland, Spain, Italy, and soon Germany and Austria, can now order directly from their car screens using touch or voice commands. The system is available in the Mercedes-Benz In-Car App Store for select models, such as the CLE, E-Class, and C-Class. Jessica Hall, Chief Product Officer, stated, “We want to fit seamlessly into the lives of our network so we’re always looking at how best to evolve our technology.”
Just Eat aims to partner with other major car brands to expand this in-car feature further. Meanwhile, the company is unifying its apps across Europe, with Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands already on the new platform. Hall added, “By the end of the year, we will have rolled out to the vast majority of European countries we operate in.” This consolidation aims to streamline operations and cut costs, allowing Just Eat to roll out new features globally from one central app.
Just Eat recently introduced Group Ordering, letting users share an order with friends or family. Each participant can add items while the order initiator reviews the basket before payment. Additionally, Just Eat’s new AI-powered Menu AI speeds up onboarding by capturing partners' menus efficiently, benefiting retailers who join the platform quickly. “As we move further into grocery and retail, we’re tailoring our product to suit the needs of these new partners,” Hall said.
Just Eat’s vision is to simplify everyday convenience by keeping pace with user expectations. Recent features like a discovery carousel and an in-store picking app for grocery partners support this goal. With plans to add more features and markets, the company wants to "help our customers and partners have the best experience possible,” Hall said. Future developments will continue to enhance its platform, focusing on innovative tech to drive the future of food and retail convenience.
