Ikea has signed a 3-year deal with Australia Post to deliver 250K parcels yearly, covering 65% of Ikea’s online sales. The partnership starts in October and supports Ikea's sustainability goals with electric vehicle deliveries.
Ikea has entered a significant three-year contract with Australia Post to handle the delivery of small and medium parcels. This deal, starting in October 2024, will see Australia Post delivering over 250,000 parcels annually for Ikea. These deliveries represent about 65% of Ikea Australia's online sales, making the partnership crucial for the brand’s distribution strategy.
Ikea fulfilled over 500,000 online orders this financial year, with nearly a quarter of them going to remote locations. The partnership with Australia Post will ensure that even customers in the most isolated parts of Australia can receive Ikea products. Australia Post’s extensive network will offer Parcel Post and Express Post services, along with click-and-collect options through local post offices.
Ikea Australia’s CEO, Mirja Viinanen, highlighted that Australia Post’s commitment to sustainability was a key factor in the partnership. With the nation’s largest electric vehicle fleet, Australia Post will help Ikea achieve its goal of zero-emission deliveries. “This partnership allows us to greatly enhance our accessibility and sustainability efforts,” said Viinanen.
Paul Graham, CEO of Australia Post, expressed excitement about supporting Ikea’s growth across the country. The deal will not only enhance Ikea’s customer experience but also strengthen Australia Post’s role in the retail logistics sector. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to customer satisfaction and sustainable business practices, setting a benchmark for future partnerships in the industry.
