Google updates AI-powered tools in Search, making it easier to find information visually, by video, and voice. Lens now handles 20B visual searches monthly. AI Overviews and voice search boost satisfaction and engagement.
Google has consistently evolved its Search features, allowing users to ask questions in different ways. Now, with AI advancements like the Gemini model, Google has introduced new capabilities for users to find information through text, images, video, and voice inputs. AI Overviews have been especially helpful, as Google states that users of these tools tend to use Search more frequently and are more satisfied with their results.
Google Lens, which processes nearly 20 billion visual searches each month, is now more advanced than ever. You can search using photos, videos, or voice, making it easier to identify objects and find products. For instance, taking a video of fish at an aquarium can now lead to detailed AI answers about their behavior. Lens is seeing its fastest growth among younger users, aged 18-24. Shopping through Lens has also improved, with results showing product reviews, prices, and purchase options from multiple retailers.
New AI-driven features allow users to identify songs playing in videos with Circle to Search. This is available to more than 150M Android devices, letting people search for songs on social media videos, movies, or even websites. Additionally, video understanding in Lens makes it possible to ask questions about moving objects, creating new ways to engage with the world around you.
AI is now helping organize search result pages. Rolling out in the U.S., this feature is especially useful for tasks like finding recipes, where users will see AI-organized results from articles, videos, and forums. Google has also redesigned its AI Overviews to increase traffic to supporting websites. As a bonus, Google is integrating ads into AI Overviews, offering users helpful options while browsing for products or services.
