Decathlon has launched a new resale platform in Belgium, allowing consumers to sell their used sports gear and clothing directly to each other. This initiative is part of Decathlon's efforts to promote sustainability and reduce waste. The service, announced on June 3, 2024, is initially only available in Belgium.
🛒 Selling Process
To sell items, users photograph their products and set prices. Once a buyer is found, the seller packages and ships the item. Decathlon also offers a pick-up service for items over 30 kg or larger than 150 cm, collaborating with Belgian post company Bpost for deliveries. Payments are managed by Decathlon.
🌍 Future Expansion
If successful, Decathlon plans to expand this platform across Europe. Currently, there are no specific plans for German-speaking regions. "We are closely monitoring the pilot in Belgium," said a company spokesperson. "Our experts in circular economy across various Decathlon countries regularly share their experiences and results to assess the feasibility of launching in other markets."

Decathlon aims to reduce waste and encourage sustainable use of sports equipment with this new platform. This move aligns with their existing 'Buy-Back' service in Germany, where customers could already sell back used Decathlon-branded items. Now, the new platform expands this concept to a wider range of products and direct consumer transactions.
