BuyBay launches You Grade, a SaaS product for retailers to resell returned items in their own distribution centers. This software increases resale profitability and reduces CO2 emissions, extending product life by up to 80% of original value.
On May 16, 2024, BuyBay, a Dutch recommerce platform, launched You Grade, its new SaaS product. This software allows retailers and manufacturers to resell returned products directly from their distribution centers. BuyBay aims to extend product life and promote a circular economy by reducing CO2 emissions and increasing profitability.
BuyBay's software, You Grade, determines the best resale channel for returned items. It decides if products can be resold through the seller's own channels, C2C marketplaces, or BuyBay's network of over 1,000 B2B sellers. The software also offers repair and recycling options, ensuring items are in good condition before resale. "Our mission is to make resale returns and excess inventory more profitable and sustainable," says CEO Machiel Tiddens.
German online retailer Contorion implemented You Grade in one of Fiege's distribution centers. Within the first month, they extended the life of 5,000 products, reselling them for up to 80% of their original value. Additionally, the software helped prevent 5.5 tons of CO2 emissions, a 70% reduction from industry standards. This success highlights the potential impact of BuyBay's software on sustainability and profitability.
BuyBay is committed to promoting the circular economy across Europe. "We believe that collective participation is essential to success," states Tiddens. The company plans to continue collaborating with various businesses to enhance the sustainability of e-commerce. By offering its recommerce software as a service, BuyBay aims to make a significant impact on reducing waste and extending the life of products.
