Amazon is set to invest over $1.3B in France, a move that will create more than 3,000 permanent jobs. The announcement was made at France's annual "Choose France" event. Other companies like GSK and Accenture also announced significant investments. This shows Amazon's confidence in the French market.
Part of Amazon's investment will go to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance cloud infrastructure in Paris. This supports France's growing generative AI sector. France is becoming a global AI hub with startups like Mistral and Poolside. Major companies like Meta and Google have also set up AI research centers in France.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested over $21.5B in France. Amazon employs more than 22,000 permanent staff in France. Frédéric Duval, Amazon France's country manager, said the new jobs are in addition to 2,000 jobs announced for 2024. This shows Amazon's commitment to job creation in France.
Part of the investment will also expand Amazon's logistics network. This aims to speed up deliveries and reduce carbon emissions. Amazon has over 35 logistics facilities in France. The expansion will further strengthen Amazon's logistics capabilities in the region.
