Shoppers can now book Taskrabbit assembly at checkout, driving a 50% rise in service purchases and a 5x increase in order value.
Ikea has upgraded its checkout process. Shoppers can now book and pay for Taskrabbit furniture assembly right as they finalize their purchases. Previously, this had to be done separately. The feature is now live in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Spain.
Since adding Taskrabbit to checkout, Ikea has seen major improvements. Assembly service purchases have jumped 50%. Returns have dropped 40%. The average order value has increased nearly five-fold. Customers are spending more and returning less.
Ikea acquired Taskrabbit in 2017. The partnership began with in-store assembly pilots in 2018. Now, the seamless checkout integration makes assembly services more accessible. This move improves customer satisfaction and gives Ikea a competitive edge.
Ikea is focused on making shopping easier and more affordable. In 2023, after hitting $6.3B in U.S. sales, it cut prices and paid $54.5M in staff bonuses. Now, with Taskrabbit at checkout, it’s adding convenience while driving revenue.
