eBay introduced a 'shop the look' feature in its iOS app, using AI to offer personalized fashion suggestions based on user shopping patterns.
eBay has launched a 'shop the look' feature on its iOS app, designed to revolutionize the fashion shopping experience. The feature, created with the help of eBay.ai and the company's Responsible AI team, offers a personalized shopping experience by suggesting a carousel of fashion items that complement the user's existing wardrobe. This AI-driven innovation aims to enhance user engagement and sales.
Through interactive hotspots on the app, users can explore outfits and similar items, including preowned and luxury goods. The feature becomes available to users who have viewed at least 10 fashion items in the past 180 days. It's a strategic move to keep users engaged and potentially increase purchases by showcasing eBay's vast inventory in a novel way.
While initially available on iOS in the U.S. and U.K., eBay plans to extend 'shop the look' to Android devices later this year. The company also considers expanding this feature to other categories, continuously enriching the personalization elements to improve user experience throughout the upcoming year.
AI is becoming a crucial tool in enhancing online fashion shopping. Google and Amazon have also introduced AI features to help users find the right clothes fit and style. eBay's focus, however, is on fashion inspiration, offering a fresh approach to discovering styles that resonate personally with users.
