Albertsons and Instacart expand their partnership to offer nationwide pickup and 30-minute delivery through Albertsons Rapid. The service is available across Albertsons' banner stores. Same-day delivery for Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Washington is also introduced. By August, more than 2,000 locations will support pickup for Instacart orders.
Albertsons and Instacart announced an expanded partnership to provide nationwide pickup and rapid delivery. The new service, called Albertsons Rapid, promises delivery in as little as 30 minutes. This move comes as many grocers are teaming up with e-commerce providers like Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber. Instacart's VP of retail partnerships, Ryan Hamburger, said, "Whether it’s a full weekly shop or a last-minute need, we’re delivering value and convenience right to your doorstep from your local Albertsons Cos. banner store."
By the end of August, customers will be able to pick up their Instacart orders from more than 2,000 Albertsons locations, including Safeway, Shaw’s, ACME, Jewel-Osco, Randalls, and Vons. Currently, the service is available at hundreds of stores. Stephen Menaquale, Albertsons' senior VP of e-commerce and fulfillment, stated, "We are offering customers another channel to fulfill their shopping needs." Customers can select a time window for pickup and will be notified when their order is ready.
Albertsons Rapid, the new virtual convenience store, allows customers to order items like prepared foods, snacks, and household essentials. The service fee is $2.99 per order, but it's free for Instacart+ members. This service aims to cater to customers' busy lives by offering a quick and convenient shopping solution. As of now, Albertsons Rapid and the new pickup services are not available at United Supermarkets and Haggen Food & Pharmacy.
The launch of same-day delivery for Haggen Food & Pharmacy marks the last Albertsons banner to offer this service. This expansion gives Instacart app users more grocery choices. Albertsons and Instacart first partnered in 2017 and have since collaborated with Grubhub, DoorDash, and Uber. With these new services, Albertsons aims to provide a seamless and efficient shopping experience for their customers.
